Dr Maciej Zurawski has lived in Sweden, Poland, and the US, and currently resides in Scotland. Maciej had regular piano lessons from the age of 9 until his late teens, before shifting his focus towards science and mathematics. He completed an MSc in Engineering Physics in Sweden. He came to the University of Edinburgh for a PhD. in the artificial intelligence institute (CISA) at the School of Informatics, and he recently defended his Ph.D.

During his Ph.D., Maciej experienced a severe illness and had to take a break for a year and a half. During his recovery, Maciej became interested in composition and music theory. After returning to his studies, he became a member of the Edinburgh University Composers’ Orchestra, where he learned much about music and orchestration. A lot of his music is inspired by the Scottish countryside. Today, Maciej is taking private orchestration lessons. Also, he currently works on developing new forms of music software technology.
