Dr Maciej Zurawski has lived in Sweden, Poland, and the US, and currently resides in Scotland. Maciej had regular piano lessons from the age of 9 until his late teens, before shifting his focus towards science and mathematics. He completed an MSc in Engineering Physics in Sweden. He came to the University of Edinburgh for a PhD. in the artificial intelligence institute (CISA) at the School of Informatics, that he completed in 2010.

During his Ph.D., Maciej had to take a break for some time. During this time Maciej became interested in composition and music theory. After returning to his studies, he became a member of the Edinburgh University Composers’ Orchestra, where he learned much about music and orchestration. A lot of his music is inspired by the Scottish countryside. Maciej has been taking private orchestration lessons. He currently works on developing new forms of emotion and music software technology in the company Musemantik.
